OT Haitian Fact Sheets

  • I am excited to partner with the association haïtienne d'ergotherapeutes (Haiti OT Association) to share information about Haitian culture. The purpose of these Haitian OT Fact Sheets is to provide readily accessible information for OTs providing short-term intervention in Haiti. Please check-out the growth of OT services in Haiti on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=association%20ha%C3%AFtienne%20d%27ergotherapeutes.

  • So glad to see this. My father is from Hati and although I don't know much about Hati because I've never met my father, it warms my heart to see Haiti doing the great things that I know they are capable of.

  • Alondra,

Thank you for letting me know you read the fact sheets and how they touched your life due to your father being Haitian. I hope you can visit Haiti someday and see what a special country it is!

  • Looks Great.  Official religion is Catholicism?  There are various other denominations of Christianity there- Methodist for example.  But, are those not listed as "official religions?"  Interesting.  Are you currently working in Haiti?  I've been and hope to go back.  Thank you!

  • Hi.  Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I agree that there are many different religions practiced by persons in Haiti, but Catholocism and Voodoo are the religions officially recognized by the Haiti government, according to my research. I am not currently working in Haiti but I did go there and volunteer as an OT on a medical mission team. Currently I am working on creating learning materials for students in the first OT/PT school in Haiti (Universite D'Episcopale). Have you considered joining the Haiti OT Association?  There are many members, including myself, who live elsewhere but have an interest in Haiti. You can find the Haiti OT Association on the web link listed in my first post.
