Getting Started with OT Connections

Please note that you can only post the same information in up to 3 forums per day.

Why do I only see the Public Forums?

  • You have to be logged in as a member to see the AOTA Member Forums.

I can read the forums, so why can’t I post a reply?

  • You need to be logged in to post information. Creating an account is free. AOTA members should use the same log in information to access the AOTA website and OT Connections, to be sure they see all the forums.

What if I forgot my sign in information?

  • Click on “forgot my password.” You will be asked for your email to help us locate your account, then we will email you the information.

How do I start a new post?

  • Log in. Open the forum you are interested in. If you want to start a new thread, click on “Start a New Thread” on the right side of the page. It is next to a green cross.

How do I subscribe to a forum?

  • When you are logged in, the top of the box on the right hand side of the page has email information. If you want to subscribe, click the blue box that says “No” in the subscribed line. It will change to “Yes,” and each time someone posts in that forum you will see it via email.

How do I subscribe to multiple forums?

  • Log in. Click on “Manage subscriptions” on the right side of any forum page. You will see a list of all the forums, and you can quickly subscribe to all the ones you want.

How do I unsubscribe to a forum?

  • Follow the same process you used to subscribe. Just click on “Subscribed,” and when it changes to “No” you will no longer receive emails from that forum. To do unsubscribe to several more quickly, go to “Manage subscriptions.”

How do I start a new forum, blog, or group?

  • This is addressed in the FAQs.

Why isn’t my post appearing?

  • Our spam filter catches things that we don’t allow on the site, like items for sale, multiple postings, and profanity. Sometimes the algorithm erroneously blocks a valid post. AOTA staff check the spam filter at least once a day and release those items that should not have been held up.
