OT Connections User’s Guide
Where to Start?
The tabs across the top of the page will take you to the different sections of OT Connections.
-Blogs are islands of information, so they aren’t grouped or categorized in any way. Find what you’re looking for by searching for the title of the blog, the author, or the subject. Creating a new blog? Use key words in your description to improve the searchability.
-Galleries are for photos, videos, and podcasts. Want to see what a CarFit event looks like? Wondering what happens during Hill Day? Interested in sharing your photos of an OT Month event ? Want to view an OT Rap video? This section is open to users, so take a look at what’s there, then upload your own content.
-Forums are for discussions on all topics related to occupational therapy. Start your own discussion or respond to others’ comments. AOTA members have access to the Special Interest Section Forums, which offer detailed discussions on specific areas of practice. The public forums are open to all users. Our goal is to provide an environment for rich debate, and all of the forums are designed to foster an open exchange of ideas. The types of posts that we will delete include personal attacks, sales pitches, and recruitment ads. We will not delete posts in which the writer disagrees with someone else or with AOTA policies and approaches.
-Groups are for individuals with a shared interest. There are both public and private groups. To join a public group simply click on the link that says “join this group.” You will be asked to apply to a private group, and you will be accepted if you match the criteria (e.g., the ASD Steering Committee group is only for elected ASD members). Don’t see a group you like? Create your own!
Staying Engaged
We have made it easy to keep up to date with your favorite blogs and forums without having to check OT Connections for new posts. When you find a blog you like, just click on Email Notifications, and you will receive updates via e-mail. Or subscribe to the RSS feed, then click on the appropriate feed (on your toolbar) to get directly to the blog.
To keep up with Forums, click on Email Forum Subscriptions. You will see a list of all the forums, with the option to subscribe to the Non-Digest version (you will receive an e-mail of each post) or the Digest version (you will receive one e-mail a day containing all the e-mails in the past 24 hours). You can unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time.
