OT Uniform Terminology

  • Hello,

Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the Uniform Terminology of Occupational therapy?

    Thank you.

  • In 2002 the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) was  adopted; this is reviewed every 5 years and was updated in 2008.  This document replaced the Uniform Terminology document.

You can find the current version online at http://www.aota.org/Practitioners/Official.aspx or in the Nov 2008 AJOT

  • How would you compare the OTPF to the Uniform Terminology?

  • There is really no comparison. They are 2 different documents with different purposes. UT is no longer a viable document as it did not truly represent the underpinning of OT but was being used as such. The OTPF serves as both a source of common terminology and a method of 'framing' or providing a common base for the profession.
