  • Hi Robyn,

The timeline for Board certification can be found on page 4 of the handbook and reads:

Applications are peer-reviewed and processed over a 4-month period following the application deadline. Review for December applications occurs January–April.

You can expect to receive a response in the early part of April.

    I hope this helps,

    Peggy

  • Thank you for your responses.

The reason for my initial post was related to the fact that following payment and submission, a confirmation confirming actual submission was never sent.  Being that my application submission was completed electronically, I just figured that I would receive "something" stating that my application was received...my post was more related to the anxiety behind the copious hours of preparation really.

  • I did it! I received the official word that my application was accepted and approved for the Board Certification Physical Rehabilitation! I would especially like to thank the contributors to this specific blog for their insight and helpful suggestions. The process was a professionally fulfilling journey and would not have been possible without the guidance and support I received from this specific discussion thread. • Congratulations Robyn!  Even though I know others were your "helpers", i was the one who originally started Career Cafe, and I am so glad it has been helpful to you. The was the dream!  Barb

  • Congratulations Robyn!  Thank you for making the journey--I'm sure we will see more of you in the future.

  • Mary Kay and Barbara, Thank you for your congratulatory words! I am still over the moon with my notice and had to re-read my letter to pinch myself! Several, OT's have asked me about the streamlined BCPR process that will be launched in December...do you have any idea what will be changed and/or modified for the 2013 application submissions? Robyn

  • As a matter of fact, I do! :-)  Actually, the details and process for both Board Certifications and Specialty Certifications are still getting fine tuned.  Some highlights are:

    • the criteria organization and wording will be easier to understand,
    • the professional development activities options will be decreased with specific activities appropriate to the criteria listed for the candidate to choose from,
    • there will be templates to use for some of the evidence, and
    • the narrative portion will be streamlined.

Anyone who is interested can go to the Certifications page on the AOTA website and sign in where the handbooks were downloaded.  When the hew handbooks are ready, they will be notified.
