Hello!
I am 2nd year OT student in San Antonio Texas at the Health Science Center. Last year our department started what we hope will be an annual tradition of hosting what we call "OT Fest." We set up outside our school of health professions building and had different booths/tables showing the different areas of OT. For example we had a sensory booth, an assistive technology booth, crafts booth and so on. We also had a band and gave away prizes for the attendees.
We have moved the event to our main campus this year where the nursing, medical, physicians assistants and dental programs are to target those students and show them what OT is all about. We plan on having booths (the above mentioned) such as low vision, driver rehab, OT around the world... still thinking of more. We will have music, prizes and free popcorn and water. We are smack dab in the middle of campus and hoping to make a real impact and get a lot of attendance. We have invited faculty and staff from the other schools (med, nursing) as well as OTs working in our community.
I am currently working on publicizes the event in the newspaper. Wish us luck and if anyone has any suggestions or has done something like this in the past let me know :)
