1.What is OTConnections all about?
OTConnections is an online community designed for occupational therapy professionals, students and consumers to interact, connect, and share.
2. I'm an AOTA member. Do I have to sign up?
As an AOTA member you are already an OTConnections member. Just Log On using your existing AOTA login. It's that easy!
3.I'm an AOTA member where are the ListServs? and why were they moved?
The ListServs now known as Forums are under the "Forums" Tab in the SIS Forum Section. Please CLICK HERE for instructions on how to transition to the new system. The SIS ListServ had to be moved due to the software no longer being supported by the vendor. The forums in OTconnections replaces the listserv with the same capabiliites you are used to and some more. We understand you may not need or want the other features like blogging, profiles, galleries but they are optional features that you do not have to participate in if you dont wish to.
4. How do I subscribe to the Forums to receive posts via email and receive the Digest?
- Once you are logged in to OTConnections, click on FORUMS
- Click on "Email Forum Subscriptions" (under Shortcuts)
- Here you can manage your forum subscription by selecting "Yes" or "No" to subscribe and receive emails of discussions for that forum. You can receive one daily "Digest" email or you can receive an email for each post and replies on that forum by making your selection on the "Non-Digest" option
- You will start receiving emails as new postings occur on the Forums. You can also add the email addresses listed for the forums you are subscribing to your address book if you wish to post via email.
5. I'm not an AOTA member. Can I sign up? Is there a cost to join?
OTConnections is open to all. You can sign up for free and participate on the site. The SIS Forums are private and restricted to AOTA members only. For access to the SIS Forums you must be an AOTA member.
6. Can I change the name of my personal blog?
YES! your personal blog has the same name as your username by default but can be changed. Go to your blog listed under "My blogs" >>Click on "Control Panel">>Click on "Configure" Tab>>Click on "Blog Setup" to change name, add a description and change other settings.
7. Can I change my username that appears on OTConnections?
By default your username is the same as your "Login Name" you created or already have. You can change this by going to "Edit Profile" and changing the name under "Common Profile Options".
8. Can I upload Pictures and Videos?
YES! You can upload pictures and videos to the Galleries set for each AOTA event or category. You can also add pictures, videos, PDF's, etc to your own personal page by going to "My Gallery/Stuff"
9. Are blogs private or public?
Blogs are public by default. You can make it private if you wish by going to the “Advance Options” Tab when writing a new post and selecting “No” under Display post. This gives you the control to make your blog postings private and not appear under the blogs area.
