NBCOT here I come!

Well, I've been really busy so far this summer, most especially with studying for the NBCOT (which I'll be taking next week!). To help future students, here are some of the resources I've been utilizing to prepare for the NBCOT:

  1. TherapyEd's Review and Study Guide--a very comprehensive, in-depth text with pretty much all the diagnoses, treatments, professional issues, etc. that might come up on the exam. It also includes 3 full practice exams, including clinical simulation scenarios and rationales for the answers. I have heard, though, that the TherapyEd practice tests are harder than the actual NBCOT.
  2. TherapyEd's Review Course--a 2-day course that can help you really focus on your test-taking style, how to best answer the NBCOT test questions, and how to prepare for the exam.
  3. Johnson's Occupational Therapy Examination Review Guide, 3rd edition--Although this is from 2006 and does not include the clinical simulation items, I have heard that the style of the questions is more similar to the NBCOT's multiple choice questions.
  4. The NBCOT Official OTR Study Guide, which I am using at the end of my planned study time--probably the most accurate resource for what the NBCOT will actually like.

Well, wait for an update in a few weeks... score date is July 25!

  • I actually will be studying myself in the next few weeks.  It's a year later than I wanted.  But, at least I am happy that the moment will be upon me shortly.
