I am interested in learning more about this product. I have problems with my R elbow as it is, and when I am keyboarding quite a bit, I start to feel it in my fingers, wrist, and elbow. I find myself gripping the mouse with my R index and holding it down as I read the screen!

I must say, the warm computer mouse is one of the best inventions. I use it with the USB Mouse Hand Warmer mini-electric blanket. The infrared heat is wonderful for my tedonitis and arthritis. Thank you ValueRays!

Infrared is definitely a good choice for heating cold extremities. Infrared heaters, like the one at www.czinfraredheaters.com, are becoming more popular every year. Infrared heat is therapeutic, improving circulation and penetrating skin to create a warmer, more comfortable feeling. Definitely something to look in to.

Yes, if you google "infrared heat heals" you will be directed to a number of proprietary websites and postings that market infrared products. That's not a terribly honest way to provide information though.

If you dig a little deeper you will find that the evidence is very controversial. A medical policy statement from Aetna has a good review of the literature and can be found at www.aetna.com/.../0325.html

Similarly, a recent study found that IR was no more effective at treating diabetic foot neuropathy than a so-called 'sham' treatment. A summary of that study is at www.diabeteshealth.com/.../infrared-light-therapy-is-no-better-than-a-placebo-for-treating-neuropathy

Anecdotal evidence abounds - some people say that this intervention causes all kinds of health benefits.

Infrared isn't really a standard OT intervention anyway - I am relatively certain that physical agent modality regulations vary widely on a state to state basis.

Also, wasn't this same information posted last week or so? Or is this repeat posting just a marketing strategy for keeping the pages on top of Google searches?

So thanks for the article here, but discriminating therapists need more than an infomercial.
