Hello friends!   Just a short four weeks until the voting window for the AOTA election begins, so over the next four weeks I will be blogging about my experience and qualities to carry out the key functions of the office of Treasurer.

One essential function of the AOTA Treasurer is to collaborate with the Executive Director to monitor fiscal status and investments – a responsibility which requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and an extreme amount of organization. In my role as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center’s College of Allied Health, I oversee all activity related to students from interaction with prospective students, to academic advisement of current students, to planning the annual graduation celebration for graduates and their families. My work includes the budget oversight for student affairs, and is very rewarding, yet requires organization and careful planning. I also advise our Student Organization in budget preparation and management. Collaboration with my Dean is critical to my current role with the College of Allied Health and working in this capacity is essential for success in meeting our College mission. I value collaboration and see the opportunity to work closely with the AOTA Executive Director in the capacity of Treasurer as important to the position. My experience and skills have prepared me well to be a faithful steward in monitoring the fiscal status and investments of the Association.

I appreciate your support and would be honored to serve as the Treasurer of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Follow me on TWITTER @OTSusanT.
