Student Conclave: Riding a Bike and Getting in Gear
I recently bought a road bike and while I’ve known how to ride a bike for, oh, 20 something years now, with a new bike there’s always a learning curve. Recently I took my bike out to the hilliest spot I could find and tested it out on some steep uphill climbs. One thing I am learning is how to get in the correct gear. If you’ve ever ridden a bike with multi-speed gears, you know that you can shift a bike to make the pedaling easier (for uphill) or harder (for flat or downhill riding).
What does all this have to do with Student Conclave? Well, we want to make sure that you gear up for your career. And when I hear “gear” I think about my new bike…
It got me thinking, when I’m riding and there’s a huge climb in front of me, I will shift to a lower gear to make the climb easier. Writing a resume or preparing for the NBCOT exam might be a steep uphill that you could maybe make easier if you attend Student Conclave. You can have actual job recruiters and experts critique your resume and also get some great study tips for passing your exam.
Maybe some career areas are more flat-road or downhill, where you could go at it on your own, but if you down shifted to a higher gear and had more power with each turn of the pedal, you could go farther, faster. Take for example attending clinical sessions about hot topics affecting your profession, or listening to leaders discuss critical issues to your success. If you attend Student Conclave, you would have these unique experiences that will help you power through your education on to your career!
So, whether you need a boost to go uphill, or you want some more power to sprint to the finish line, you should attend the Student Conclave and get your career in gear!
