Job searching, OTD/PhD, blogging, a stint in Bogota...OT blog salad.
I haven't blogged in a long time, so this is just a hodge podge of things I've meant to discuss. Moving, finding a job: I just moved back to San Diego, CA after ten years of living in the South. People would ask me if I had a job lined up and...

2 hour pizzas....learning the ropes of vocational rehab and to not be a helicopter OT!
I am learning about patience now that I am starting to work in vocational rehab a few hours a week. I did a kitchen safety assessment today - where the student makes something in the oven or on the stove, as well as peels and cuts a potato [knife safety...

Coming up on 4 month anniversary as practitioner in phys dys
Wow....almost 4 months now. Time flies. Every day I learn new things. Three days a week I'm with just a PT, two days a week I'm also with another OT. I am learning a lot from the PT. I have to say I feel like the PT knows everything I know about...

Opinion: Are all OT schools pretty similar? Cheap or expensive?
I got this e-mail below from an enthusiastic and passionate new blog ( otstudents.blogspot.com ) reader (now Jane Doe to you all). I personally think that most OT programs - cheap or not, private or public - offer MORE OR LESS similar experiences...although...

From MOTS to OTR/L
I got my official pretty blue license in the mail today! It felt so thrilling yet weird to see it! In the last few months I've graduated, passed boards, and gotten licensed...and had several job interviews in multiple states. My initial dream job...

I PASSED THE NEW BOARDS!!!
I graduated on Friday and found out I passed boards on Sunday! It really wasn't that bad. I know of four other classmates that took the test within the same week and they all also passed. Now I have an interview at a local pediatric cancer hospital...

AUGH: Navigating the journey from student to practitioner...
Lately, I've been blogging a lot about the (slow) transition from student to practitioner. (http://otstudents.blogspot.com). This involves a lot of AUGH! AUGH! AUGH! as it is really quite scary. I'm comfortable as a student. I'm 26 and it's...

My psychiatric Centennial Vision moment of the day...
I finally figured out how to write a blog entry on this thing. I usually write daily at otstudents.blogspot.com...I went to bed then got back up because I couldn't sleep and I wanted to search for various cognitive assessments...like the SLUMS, MMSE...
