The Commission on Practice
Hi Everyone!
I thought I would share a little description of the role of the COP that I found on the AOTA website. The description also includes a brief overview of the committee membership.
Commission on Practice (COP)
The COP is one of the bodies of the AOTA Representative Assembly (RA). It serves AOTA by promoting the quality of occupational therapy practice and developing practice standards for occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants relative to provider and consumer needs. The COP also identifies the need for and develops, interprets, and periodically reviews and revises standards, guidelines, and other official documents related to occupational therapy practice.
The COP membership consists of the chairperson (elected position) and voting members who are selected by the chairperson. There are three liaison members: one from the Special Interest Sections (SISs), one from the Association of Student Delegates (ASD), and one from AOTA headquarters. The ASD liaison is an elected position and serves for 2 years. All other members serve a 3-year term. The chairperson selects the voting members of the COP with consideration for their practice expertise and geographic representation.
